Pastor Bob Parnell
Lead Pastor

Pastor Bob and his wife Michele have served at Black Oak Baptist for over 25 years. The Lord has truly blessed their ministry. On special services the attendance will go to over 350. Pastor Bob has served as Vice President and second Vice President of the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana, and past President of Portage Christian School board. He also currently serves as a City Councilman for Portage, IN. 

Pastor Bob was saved at the age of 13, and soon after was called to the gospel ministry. He was ordained at age 20, and received his BA in theology in 1983.

Prior to Black Oak Baptist, our pastor served at two churches, both of which were in Illinois. He has been in full time Christian service for 38 years.

The Parnells have one daughter, Zoe, and they reside in Portage, Indiana.

 

 

Pastor Steve McJunkins
Youth Pastor

Steve McJunkins has been on staff at Black Oak Baptist Church for 10 years.  He has a burden to see young people become committed to following Christ.  As the leader of The Bridge Youth Group, he incorporates relevant Bible study tools to encourage the teens to further their study past the classroom.  Your teen will enjoy this vibrant, interactive setting, as well as the exciting activities scheduled specifically for the youth.

Steve was saved at the age of four years old, and surrendered his life to serve God at a young age as well.  He has a bachelors' degree in pastoral theology with a minor in graphic design & media from Hyles-Anderson College.  He and Kayla have been married for almost 9 years.  Together, they have a vision to reach the young people in this community. They have a daughter named Kinsley who is 2 years old.
